Altstadthotel Eibsen

The Altstadt Otterndorf is a really convenient place to stay, and the hotel was great.

The breakfast was exceptionally good, the staff were very friendly, and dogs are welcome. The location is central, everything was very clean, and parking is right at the hotel. Our main problem was the heating: it was broken, and only after we asked were we given a space heater and radiator that evening. We wish it had been fixed before we arrived, so we wouldn’t have had to move into rooms that were completely freezing. The restaurant opening hours recommended by the hotel were also wrong. Many places were closed altogether or had shorter hours, so that information needs updating to avoid unpleasant surprises. Even with those issues, the positives outweighed the negatives for us. We’d happily return if we’re in the area again.

Restaurant 19 is in the hotel, and the food there was fantastic. The chefs are creative and adventurous, with very reasonable prices. We felt comfortable throughout our stay and would love to come back. The hotel itself is small and cozy, in a quiet spot, with lovely, tastefully furnished rooms and a delicious breakfast. Everyone was extremely friendly. They’re especially welcoming to dogs, and even gave our two a gift. The owner is always happy to chat and shared useful tips about Otterndorf and the surrounding area. There’s also a private parking lot right beside the building.

We were about 28 family members having Easter Monday breakfast, and they arranged a table for us in the restaurant area. It felt cozy, and everyone really enjoyed the meal. The buffet was superb, with Prosecco on offer. Pots of filter coffee were already on the tables, and we could also make other coffee specialties from the fully automatic machine. Service was attentive and friendly, and anything that ran out at the buffet was replenished straight away. A thoroughly enjoyable Easter breakfast. We’ll definitely be back! 👌🏼
