Our rooms had an attic-like feel, and the hotel was a little awkward because it seemed to be used mostly by workers. Still, the staff at Alte Poststation were wonderful. They cleaned our rooms every day and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The wifi kept cutting in and out on my phone, but the breakfast was perfect.

The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the restaurant served tasty food cooked while you wait. I recommend the escalope plate, a very large portion, and the homemade pizza was nice too. Be sure to try the local beers. The hotel itself is old style and roadside, with basic rooms and a good location: easy access to autobahn 4, about a 25-minute drive to Cologne, and a few minutes by car to Overath and its nice supermarkets, including the large Hit, which closes at 22.00. The rooms need to be cleaner, the pillows could be more comfortable, and tea-making facilities in the room would be useful. Aside from that, it’s a good hotel in a good spot, with helpful staff and nice restaurant food.

The restaurant is great. Rooms are basic, but the price is very reasonable, and it’s a nice place to stay.

There are lots of reviews already, so here’s my advice: don’t risk it. If you can, take a look at the room yourself before deciding.

Dirty and frightening. It was a horrible night. Honestly, I guess even a prison would be millions of times better.
