I'm posting my January 2025 review again since the earlier ones were apparently deleted. There were six of us dining, and we ordered beef tongue, goulash, duck leg, a chicken steak, and plenty of beer. The beer was the only thing we enjoyed. The goulash arrived cold, and I don't want to speculate, but the dishes tasted as though they had been made with three cans of beer. The chicken wasn't cooked through, and the Worcestershire sauce was two years past its expiry date. Since every other restaurant in town was closed at that time that day, I can only recommend this place for a beer. We told the server we didn't see why we should pay for the raw chicken. They said mistakes happen, had the chicken "pan-fried again," and offered a coffee as compensation. I still had a slight feeling of nausea afterward. I really can't understand the good reviews that persuaded us to try this restaurant.

The homemade salads and jams were a treat, and I'd return just for those delicious jams. Breakfast was plentiful, too. I felt very welcome and well looked after by the friendly hosts. My room was spacious, with a comfortable sofa, and the whole place seemed clean and well maintained. It's centrally located but still very quiet. I was sorry the café and restaurant had closed, though there was a plausible reason for it.

We've been coming to Cafe Meier for 23 years, and it's always been great for us. The owners are lovely, and the waitress and cleaning person are friendly too. We always enjoy coming back.

The walls are thin, so that's the one point I'd take off. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast more than enough. It's a nice hotel in a perfect location, and we'd happily recommend it.
