Villa Knobelsdorff

We had a major problem with the stairs: getting my brother down safely was really difficult. The place isn’t barrier-free, and that’s why I gave it four stars instead of five. A lift or something similar could help guests who use wheelchairs. The rest of our stay was lovely. We were there with the whole family to celebrate the kids’ first day of first grade, and they arranged thoughtful extras, including a personalized card, gift bags for the kids, and beautifully decorated tables. They took great care of us. The location was great, the food wonderful, and the service good, though I wish the staff had smiled more and been friendlier.

The restaurant charges extra for ketchup and mayo, 80 cents each, and even swapping fries for bratkartoffel cost more. Neither charge was explained, they just showed up on the bill. There’s also a lot of upselling at a hotel that’s already quite pricey: scrambled or fried eggs cost extra on top of breakfast, which itself is an extra charge. Breakfast was okay, but basic, with little fruit and not much choice if you don’t eat meat or cheese. Some melon, strawberries, or apricots would have been nice in summer. Our room, no23, felt stuffy, and the tiny windows didn’t let in much air. The shower had weak pressure and leaked, and there was no Wi-Fi signal. You also can’t put restaurant or bar bills on your room. The hotel itself is smart, and the staff were friendly. There’s a bike shed, which was useful since we were cycling. The gardens looked lovely, but the weather was too poor for us to enjoy them. Pasewalk seemed pretty, though it had shut down by 20:30 on Friday night, so we couldn’t find an Eis for dessert.

The restaurant food was top notch, and breakfast was fantastic. It’s a lovely palace with lots of history, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

I loved staying here. The accommodations were beautiful, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the restaurant food was excellent. Breakfast was fantastic too.
