Altstadt-Hotel Passau

Breakfast was generous and really good, with an all-you-can-eat buffet, and there was a beautiful river view from our room. The room itself was spotless, spacious, and amazing, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were fantastic, friendly and upbeat, spoke fluent English, and suggested things to do as soon as we checked in. Parking at the building is absent or limited, but there's a large lot nearby with electric chargers. We wished we could stay a few more nights. I'd highly recommend it for a few relaxed days in style, and I'm sure we'll be back.

A proper four-star hotel, with rooms that feel the right size for that rating. The location was great, and breakfast was excellent. Every staff member we met was friendly, professional, helpful, and knew their stuff.

Breakfast had all kinds of food, and sitting outside overlooking the Donau was lovely and refreshing. The hotel is in the old city rather than the center, but it's only a 15-minute walk to the center. I wondered at first if the price was too high, though German hotels are often expensive. The rooms had everything you'd expect, and both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy, with the bathroom well equipped. Nothing felt wrong. My one concern was whether there was enough parking.

It was easy to walk to cafés, restaurants, museums, and other sights from this conveniently located hotel. It's on the peninsula between the Inn and Danube, with nice views all around and a little park just around the corner where the rivers meet. The breakfast buffet and small patio were also nice. Our room was very clean and spacious, though the beds were a bit hard. In midsummer it got quite hot inside; there's no air-conditioning, but every room has a fan. It didn't do much, though with the window open and the ventilation on, we could at least sleep. The street got very loud through that open window, with people shouting and talking and cars speeding noisily through the night. That's not really the hotel's fault.
