Hotel Stadt Peine

The beds were comfortable, but the rest was a letdown. There weren't enough staff, with one person handling both breakfast and reception, and they didn't speak English at all. Breakfast was very basic, just sandwiches and cereal. No AC, creepy pictures on the walls, and the bathroom needed an upgrade. There were no curtains, so the room got very bright in the morning. Some rooms were missing light bulbs, which was especially inconvenient in the evening.

I wouldn't book again. The rooms were clean and functional, but had a 1990s look and nothing more. The location isn't far from the motorway, so it works for an overnight stop. There was no one at reception; I was told to get the keys from a storage box and didn't see any staff. I don't think anyone was on site overnight. The bar wasn't open. Breakfast was typical German-style meats and cheeses.

Our room had two rooms, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good and suited the kids. The only real problem was a bad smell from the bathroom and toilet. I did find it a little overpriced: we paid €80 a night for two adults and two children, while we usually pay about €60 for this kind of hotel. Still, I'd recommend it for a night during a family holiday.

At about €280 a day, I expected at least a coffee machine and toiletries replaced daily, but not even the soap or shower gel was replenished. Breakfast was very basic, and the hotel is a 1.5 km walk from the train station. They take advantage of Hannover Messe to charge exorbitant prices while not providing basic facilities. It doesn't deserve even one star. Next time, I may stay in Hannover itself.
