It’s a popular spot for lunch or dinner with people from the surrounding area, and the hotel rooms are often full of German, Austrian, and Swiss guests. Make sure to reserve through their own site or Booking.com 😊. It sits on the first hill before the Alps, with a clear view toward the highest peak in the German Alps and a beer garden.

The rooms were clean and quiet, and breakfast was delicious. There are hiking trails nearby that lead to other Biergartens, too. Our hosts were lovely and patient with our very limited German, helping us order from the German menu. If you’re after a peaceful country setting with a great Biergarten and an incredible restaurant, this is the place.

I only eat outside here in summer, since I haven’t stayed at the hotel or tried the indoor dining. On a clear sunny day, the view over the rolling hills to the Bavarian Alps (Voralpen) is great, especially Benediktenwand. The standard Bavarian dishes are good quality and fairly priced. Service was slow on my last visit, probably because, like many places these days, they were short staffed. It’s not somewhere to go if you’re in a rush anyway. Come when you have time to relax and enjoy the view. I like the Rahmschwammerl with a dunkles Weissber, or two.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant has a nice range of Bavarian dishes. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is good. A lovely place, totally recommended!
