A retro Garni-Hotel.
The heating stopped working completely after 9 p.m., and the room wasn't especially clean. Breakfast was very sparse, and the place had a somewhat oppressive feel. The manager was unfriendly, particularly when dealing with the situation afterward. I accidentally tracked some dry dirt from my shoes onto the carpet. It would've been easy to vacuum up, but I was told I couldn't stay there again because that would be “inhumane.” I didn't have my own vacuum cleaner along to do the hotel's cleaning for them. They charged me a €30 “special cleaning fee,” which felt outrageous given the general state of the rooms: hair in the bathroom, mold in the shower, marks in the sink, and carpet stains that definitely weren't from my shoes. I moved to another hotel in town, which was “luckily” much better, with a breakfast buffet, clean and spacious rooms that were heated overnight, and friendly staff. Once, and never again.
We always headed out too early to try the breakfast. The rooms were clean, bathrooms included, and the hosts were really nice and helpful, so I don't understand the earlier reviews. The decor is the one small downside, a bit retro, but otherwise it's top-notch and I have no complaints. I'd recommend it for a short trip if you don't plan to spend all your time at the hotel. If you want to stay in all day, it's not the place for that.
A genuine trip back to the 70s.
