The location is handy for hiking, since you can set off without having to drive somewhere first. It’s also well placed between Austria and Berchtesgaden. Our apartment was lovely, with a fully equipped kitchen, and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived.

A quiet spot and a very nice holiday apartment. The Rupertiwinkel is a great base for all sorts of activities nearby, on both the German and Austrian sides.

A car is definitely needed here. The walk down to Piding takes about 45 minutes, and the uphill return takes even longer. Once you’re here, though, there’s peace and quiet, fresh air, lovely surroundings, and good room amenities. Dogs are welcome, the rooms are spotless, and the kitchenette has everything you need. You can order breakfast rolls, and there are hiking routes in several directions around the accommodation. The farmer and innkeeper is probably one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.

The furniture looked a little worn, though it was clean.
