The reception was a real bright spot: the receptionist was so friendly and helpful, and you can borrow books and games there or pick up excursion brochures. There’s also a bread delivery service, a laundry room with two washers and a dryer for €3 per load, a table tennis room, and a lovely playground where children can play freely. Extra costs seemed perfectly reasonable to me. We were here for the second time with friends and our family. Last year we stayed in house 14, which has since been sold, and this time we had house 10. The houses are much the same, though we preferred 14. Last year we were fully satisfied: the grounds were beautiful, the house was clean, and the lake was only a three-minute walk away. The kids loved being able to jump into the water, and we had fantastic weather. Dogs and horses were often at the swimming area. Some dogs walked over other people’s towels and belongings, and their owners seemed to expect everyone to understand. This time, cleaning was a serious letdown. It seemed the previous guests had a dog, since hair covered the carpet, sofa, cushions, floor, and stairs. After days of rain, the place smelled strongly of wet dog. The kitchen drains were blocked, the pots and kettle badly scaled, and the cupboard hinges by the rubbish bin were covered in grime from the previous occupants’ garbage. Dishes still had food on them, the bathroom toothbrush holders were smeared with toothpaste, and an old shoe was on the shelf. I went shopping on Saturday evening for air freshener, a diffuser, descaler, drain cleaner, and other things, then did a final clean on Sunday, even though everyone pays €100 for that. It really annoyed me, but I didn’t want to start the holiday with a dispute. The mattresses in house 10 were badly worn on three beds, and the couch was worn too. That’s why I’ve taken off a star for the overall quality. The house has a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and TVs in the living room and children’s room. The terrace has an awning, table, chairs, and another lounger, and next to the house there’s a little shed with two loungers and a grill. The awning was especially useful since the weather was nearly always bad and we could still sit outside. Wi-Fi only works at reception, and mobile reception was mostly terrible. I still recommend the resort and we’ll definitely return, though the cleaning staff could perhaps be checked more often.
