Deutscher Hof

I booked a room on the spur of the moment for one night. Getting there and checking in were simple, and the key box meant I could arrive late in the evening. The room was modern, spacious, and clean, with no noise from other rooms. Since I stayed over the weekend, I also got a parking spot right outside the door.

The location is central, and self check-in through a key box is available 🌞. If old houses are your thing, you’ll like the character here, from the old tiles in the stairwell to the huge wooden doors. My room was practical, with a small kitchenette and a clean bathroom 🌞.

We knew there wouldn’t be service, and the key was kept in a safe with a code. The bed was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was large. But the floor had only been swept, not mopped. There’s no heating from May through October, even if it’s under 14°C outside. We’ve never had to dress so warmly in bed in June. The TV had no signal either. Never again!

The city center, with supermarkets, shops, and restaurants, is right next door, so the location is very good. If you only need somewhere to sleep for a few nights, I’d recommend it. This was our second stay in two weeks. I was glad the key handover went smoothly even though nobody was at reception, but both times we had the same room, and the bathroom still had the same stains and marks as the week before. That’s why I’m taking off two stars. Hygiene needs to be taken more seriously, and reading other guests’ comments reinforced that impression.
