Forsthaus am See

We live in Colorado and usually get beef from grass-fed, grass-roaming cattle on a family farm in Nebraska, but the steak we had right here in Feldafing, Bavaria was the best. At Forsthaus am See, my American husband was in his fifth week in Europe and hoping for something different, and it delivered. We started with an Espresso Martini aperitif, then had a delicious Caesar Salad with Shrimp, an exceptional Beef Filet / Steak from Namibia, Africa, and a great seafood pan. The Creme brûlée was outstanding too. The staff and owner were attentive without hovering. A must-try restaurant with beautiful views of the Starnberger Sea!

We meant to stop for a snack, but ended up staying for hours. The view and service were amazing, and so were the food and drinks. We started with classic tartar, probably the best I've ever had. We also enjoyed talking with managing director Mike, a self-made businessman with strong values and a lot of experience. His team and he gave us such attentive service, and we really appreciated the time they spent with us. Thanks so much. We'll be back soon.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just had dinner outside on their terrace. The food was great, the wine list had a nice range, and the spot by the lake was fantastic. Friendly service too, a must!

On a sunny day, the view over Stanberger See was lovely. From the ferry stop, it's a 15-minute walk along the shore and through the forest to the restaurant. The Italian food was very tasty, service was quick, and there was plenty of space between tables. They also had a nice choice of beer, wine, sekt and champagne. I'd like to go back.
