Quartier Hostel Potsdam

For 70€ a night, you can also get a hotel in Potsdam. This place felt a bit overpriced, though the location is very nice, near the big castle on a very quiet street. It was clean, but there are only two shared showers for all the rooms. The shower sits just behind the toilet entrance, with no privacy, which felt quite strange. The walls are so thin that you hear everything from other rooms. The wireless didn’t work in the evening, although it was fine the next morning. The owner was in a hurry and could have been friendlier.

After some time away from hostel stays, the Quartier Potsdam Hotel made a lovely return to that kind of holiday. Ralf was very accommodating, and we loved our family room, especially the patio where we could sit and relax. We’ll come back.

I got very little sleep because one person in my room went to bed at 3:30 am and another got up very early. That was just the luck of sharing a room, not the hostel’s fault. I had two roommates. My bedding was comfortable, and I was given a towel. There was a tall, narrow locker that fit my backpack but not my suitcase, plus a bedside cabinet that locked. It was my first hostel stay, and I was surprised to see families and quite a few older guests. The place was very clean, peaceful, and set in a beautiful area next to the SansSouci garden. I had a car and found parking easily, but I can’t say how close it is by foot or public transport to central Potsdam. Ralf, the owner, was kind. I had some trouble connecting to WiFi, but once it connected the speed was good. I’d recommend staying here.

I appreciated the fresh rolls at breakfast, and Ralf gave me a friendly welcome. It’s a clean, new hostel in a great spot for visiting Potsdam’s historic sights, with Sans Souci just a short walk away. I had a really nice stay and will come again.
