Steigmühle

The Wi-Fi wasn't great, though only the younger guests seemed bothered by it. Breakfast had a wide range of choices, and the rooms were clean and quiet. The sisters were friendly and helpful, and even arranged a first-floor room for my parents because walking is difficult for them.

The breakfast was varied and plentiful, and on rainy days we enjoyed the cozy lounge, fireplace, and little library. It's a lovely hotel just a few minutes from Pottenstein's market square, with great views of the castle and surrounding cliffs. The rooms are practical and have balconies. Only a few rooms are open right now because of staff shortages, but the small team is doing its best. Our dog was welcomed after some initial hesitation.

Having breakfast on the terrace was so relaxing that we kept lingering. The owner and her team were attentive and friendly, and our room was very clean. If you can book a room with a castle view, there's a magnificent scene with a rushing stream right below the balcony. I'd highly recommend this guesthouse for a stay.

The small TV was the only downside, but who needs one in such a beautiful area? The owner runs the quiet, very nice hotel herself and was incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic, with everything you could want, and I got to eat on the sun terrace when the weather was nice.
