The staff were super friendly, flexible and funny, and the dinner we had, just fish, tasted great. There isn’t much for vegetarians, though, and breakfast was only okay: nothing vegan, but enough cheese for vegetarians. The location right by the sea is beautiful. The rooms are pretty basic, with no kettle, and the windows don’t shut properly, so it gets cold when it’s windy. The showers are awful, it’s really hard to get the temperature right. The sauna relaxation room gets very hot too, with no windows for fresh air. 3/5 =)

At dusk, after one of the hotel's excellent meals, we watched the swallows nesting under the thatched roof put on a beautiful flying display as they caught insects. There are wild roe deer around the grounds too, and our English Cockers loved lying on the manicured lawns, breathing in the sea air. They also had plenty to watch at the Schloss's deer park. The setting is remarkable and well worth the expense, which felt like a bargain to me. This family-run business is managed in a chic, professional way. It’s off the beaten track, which can be a very good thing on Ruegen. The nearest town is a Schloss Stadt (Palace Town), with the center buildings all following a similar design.

A lovely evening, thank you. The dishes were thoughtfully presented, service ran smoothly, and the front-of-house team were excellent. If you enjoy good food and want something besides schnitzel every day, book here.

I’m looking forward to coming back. It’s an excellent hotel, built around the original idea of individual three-story thatched houses. Everything was clean, tidy and well organized, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
