When scholarship is withheld from most of humanity on the grounds that it is unnecessary or unhelpful to everyone, or might harm many, it cannot be valued as something universally beneficial. Excluding women from study shows this contempt for learning especially clearly. The injustice is as great as what women suffer when they are denied this glorious and precious pursuit.
