Himmel & Hölle Pölkenstraße

Date of stay: July 2020, 1 week. We had an apartment with a double room and a single room. Getting in was simple. We followed the front-door instructions and called, then the host arrived three minutes later, gave us the key, and showed us around. We completed the registration at our own pace afterward, and the whole thing was very friendly. The location is excellent. The shower was spacious, almost level with the floor, and worked perfectly. The water supply was the main problem. In both the kitchen and bathroom, very little came out of the cold taps, or the kitchen mixer. The bathroom sink had separate hot and cold taps, so there was no way to mix the water. Filling even a small glass seemed to take a minute. This didn't affect the shower. A neighboring house was being renovated while we were there, and the noise was sometimes high, especially in the mornings. That's not something I blame the host for. The gated parking lot costs 3 euros a day, but it's about a 10-minute walk away. And the "balcony" was disappointing: it looks onto a small back courtyard at the neighboring house, as well as that house's living room and terrace.

The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, and the place is central. The one letdown is the bathing setup: there isn't really a shower, just a bathtub with no hand shower. Otherwise, highly recommended!

We felt right at home in these beautiful rooms, which were furnished with care. We'll definitely be back next year.
