The room had no double bed, and the sofa bed and furniture were really old. The water was either icy or burning hot. But the worst part was the man at check-in. He was extremely rude and almost shouted at my wife for bringing our baby buggy into reception instead of using the stairway with the elevator. When we called out his tone, he got aggressive and made us feel stupid for not knowing about the other entrance. We’ve never experienced anything like that while travelling.

The village is in a beautiful setting by the Main, with lovely steep hillside vineyards and Würzburg only a 10-minute drive away. Parking can be tricky, especially since the hotel also operates as a restaurant and spaces are limited. There’s a charger for electric cars, though I’m not sure it’s for customers. This is a classic, old-fashioned hotel, from the furniture to the customs. If that’s what you like, it may suit you. It’s in a more conservative part of Germany, and I didn’t find the place especially customer-oriented. They require full payment the day before you leave, and they show you a lot of things whose relevance wasn’t clear to me.

We won’t be back. There was no parking for us when we arrived, and the walls are thin. Most of the staff were friendly, but the manager spoiled the stay for us. In my view, he should find work outside hospitality or the restaurant business.
