Hexenhaus auf Rügen

The house looked attractive and lived up to expectations, with a well-equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom, and free bicycles in good working order. But the cleanliness and upkeep were disappointing. There was leftover quark in the fridge, a musty smell from the living room sofa, and two broken lamps, including one over the stairs to the attic. The large hammock area looked much smaller than in the photos, and was overgrown and neglected. The table and chairs outside looked worn. When we used the vacuum cleaner, its bad smell made the air worse. There was old dust, dead insects, and cobwebs in the wardrobe and on the bedside lamps; the wardrobe itself was dusty too. The duvets and pillows had been washed but still seemed old and musty. The sheet was clean, yet had a large dark stain that couldn't be identified and should have been replaced. There was also a lot of dust in the sleeping area, including on the beams above the bed, which looked like more than could have gathered since the previous guest. Given where the property is, it would help to mention that all sorts of insects and spiders can be found indoors. That wasn't a problem for us directly, but it could matter to some guests. Ten days after our stay, before posting this review, we took some time and then contacted the host mainly about the cleaning. We asked for the final cleaning fee back because we felt the cleaning had NOT been done properly. We got a reply, but it didn't deal with all the issues we raised. They said they'd look into individual points, but offered no compensation.

Frauke and Marie were friendly and dependable throughout the booking and our messages. We stayed at the Witch's House in August during peak season, and Rappin felt wonderfully peaceful. The cottage is furnished with care and has everything you need to switch off from everyday stress. Its kitchen is fully equipped, the bathroom has charm, and the beds were comfortable. We spent our days exploring Rügen at an easy pace on e-bikes, which we really recommend renting nearby from Bruchalla. There was a secure place for them in the garden shed beside the house, along with garden things for relaxing, like a hammock, loungers, chairs and cushions. The owners also run the Rügen Market, a lovely regional market in Thiessow, open on Tuesdays and Thursdays and well worth a visit. Thanks for such a lovely stay ❤️

My grandfather and his siblings were born here in the 1920s and 30s. It’s a holiday home now.

A lovely spot, decorated with care and little touches everywhere. It felt like just the place to relax.
