Ferienhof am Hemmelsdorfersee

Everything you need to cook for yourself is there, and the apartments are cozy, clean, and looked after. The setting is really relaxing. One drawback is the long, steep staircase up to the bedroom and bathroom, which could be tricky with young kids or dogs. The front garden has a fence, but it's covered in gravel, and the black locust trees leave quite a mess.

We had what we needed, and someone has clearly put a lot of care into the place. Still, the cupboards and shelves had some dusty dishes, and the house's age shows in the furnishings and creaky stairs. It's a converted barn with six apartments. Garden partitions separate them outdoors, but inside there aren't really barriers between units, so you could theoretically reach a neighbor's door through a hallway and another door. Our stay was pleasant, but I wouldn't book again for now. There's a lot of competition for genuinely good places to stay.

The landlady was always available and so helpful, and we felt at home in these lovely apartments, furnished with real care and taste. It's a great base for bike rides to Lübeck, Travemünde, Timmendorfer Strand, and around Lake Hemmelsdorf.

We had a lovely view from the cozy living and dining area, and there was no street noise at all. The garden beside the horse stable felt wonderfully peaceful. The country-style rooms were furnished with care, and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed. We used the different grills to enjoy the last days of autumn on the terrace. We'll be back soon.
