Apartment Landhaus Bachwinkl

Reit im Winkl felt like a European summer hideaway, with alpine biking and hiking and clear lakes for swimming. There were plenty of pensions around town, but many had “Zimmer Frei” signs despite the summer visitors. Our pension, Bachwinkl, was full, and we heard it was nearly booked for months ahead. We hope to return in the Fall and may have trouble finding an apartment. The hosts thought their flexibility about arrival and departure days and times, along with welcoming young children and pets, might explain the difference. I think their care for guests had a lot to do with it too. They were prompt while arranging the reservation, accommodating when we needed to change our arrival time, and available during the stay without intruding on our privacy. They paid attention to every detail and really seemed to value serving their guests. My husband and I travel often, and I used to run an inn, so we care a lot about a quality stay. This cozy Bavarian house delivered exactly that. The Hildebrandts filled the room with maps, guides, and visitor information, helped us find a good bike rental shop, and suggested hikes and nice places to reach the river. Our room was at the edge of the village, with fields behind the house and a brook on each side. From the balcony we could hear the water, and the mountain views were lovely. It was peaceful, even with the town busy, and the large trees along the brooks gave us a cool cross-breeze during unusually warm weather. The apartment never overheated. The bedroom wall adjoined a room occupied by a couple with a two-year-old, but we heard absolutely no noise from them. Our bed was large and comfortable, with fresh, lovely linens. The kitchenette had everything we could think of, including basic condiments. One evening we made pasta with pesto and stayed in to watch a DVD from their nice family-friendly collection. We also found the lodging and restaurant prices very reasonable. The hosts spoke perfect English. The combination of a lovely home, a serene setting, and attentive innkeepers made us feel like honored guests. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Reit im Winkl region. In fact, staying here alone would make the area a good choice for a holiday or getaway.
