Gästehaus Eschenhof

The view is breathtaking and the air feels lovely. The owners of Gästehaus Eschenhof were the best part for me: friendly, welcoming, and happy to make you feel at home even if you’re from another country. In neighboring areas, people seemed to judge where you’re from and what you look like before deciding whether to welcome you. If you’re looking for food, make sure you leave town. The stay itself was nice and comfortable.

The room was small but clean and comfortable, with a shared terrace. The accommodation was good, though the bathroom especially could use an update. For the price, I didn’t think it was good value.

We felt very comfortable here, and the landlady gave us a warm welcome and looked after us. This family-run guesthouse is nicely renovated, clean, and tidy, with a simple but good breakfast and extras if you ask. There’s also a self-service fridge in the common room, where you keep your own tally. It’s nice that a trust-based arrangement like that still exists. Our downstairs room was a good size and the terrace was a great extra, though the room could use some renovation. The exit from the parking lot onto the road is a little confusing. It works well for hiking, a one-night stop, or a ski holiday. The price felt fair, and we’d return.

The landlady was very, very friendly, and breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and available in extra portions if you wanted more. We only stayed one night while passing through, but it was a lovely visit. The rooms are on the small side, though furnished with lots of care. Everything was clean, including the bathroom, which was perfectly adequate. We had plenty of parking and a fantastic balcony view. The breakfast room had a charming, rustic feel too.
