The hosts were friendly, and the place was clean and everything worked. The furniture combines old and new, and the amenities were more than adequate. The mattresses were very hard, though that's a matter of personal preference. There's a drying room, plus a shed where you can borrow sleds for free. Mr. S., our contact, was extremely friendly and arranged the apartment for us at short notice. Many thanks again.

We spent a wonderful week here in August with our two children and felt very comfortable. Our top floor apartment had a balcony with a beautiful mountain view. The Licht guesthouse has plenty of parking and sits away from the main road. Salzburg is also easy to reach in Austria, just 1 hour and 20 minutes away.

The website offers online booking, which is normally non-refundable, and describes the property as centrally and quietly located among the Chiemgau Alps, with views of the Kaiser Mountains and far from everyday bustle. When we arrived, though, there was a large construction site right beside the house. Work on two buildings completely covered in scaffolding was clearly audible even late in the afternoon, and a large construction crane was in use. None of this was mentioned on the website. It's astonishing how different the promise and the reality can be.

Everything we needed was close by, with all the village amenities within walking distance. Our second-floor apartment had two bedrooms and two bathrooms and was well equipped. The owner gave us a warm welcome, and the place is right in the center.

The apartment is clean and looked after, but some things need attention. The door handles keep coming loose and falling off, and a wardrobe door is missing and still hasn't been replaced.
