The decor and atmosphere were lovely, and the meat portions were generous. The chicken, though, was dry, and the rice tasted like feet. The language barrier caused real confusion with the drinks: we got different ones from what we'd ordered, including white wine with pork instead of the red wine I asked for, a limoncello spritz instead of a digestif, and the wrong lemonade for the kids. Then a waiter told me I could only pay in cash. As I was leaving, I saw a German customer paying with ApplePay. 😳

Inside, there's lovely wooden decor, and the menu blends traditional and modern cuisine. After cross-country skiing, which Reit im Winkl is known for, we enjoyed a tasty Bavarian Schweinebraten and a burger my wife ordered. Both dishes were delicious.

The ambience was great, and the staff were kind and attentive, though the helping lady wasn't as friendly or smiley as the others. This was our second visit. We loved it last year, but the food this time was good rather than impeccable like it was in summer 2022. I'm not sure whether the chef was still the same. The burger was fantastic last year, but only okay this time, and the amazing desserts that used to be displayed by the entrance weren't there either.

It can be hard to find clearly labeled vegan options in Reit Im Winkl, so we came because one dish was marked vegan. They were really nice, seated us without a booking, and adapted a starter to make it vegan when we asked. We enjoyed the food, and the beer was okay too :)
