Essential by Dorint Remscheid

We spent two weeks at Essential by Dorint in Remscheid with the family, and it was a great stay. The room was ready early, which helped, and the service was friendly and polite throughout. Everyone was lovely and smiling. Special thanks to the restaurant staff and hotel director Marco Klij, who greeted us every day and really seemed to care about the guests. Thanks so much for the barbeque party. All the staff treated us wonderfully, and I hope we'll visit again.

The motorway was very close, which made the location handy for where I needed to go. I also really liked breakfast and the food in the restaurant. The buffet served most evenings was great, and the restaurant staff were pleasant and very helpful. The room and bathroom felt dated and could use a refurbishment. I hated the pillows, probably the worst I've ever had, though I was comfortable enough during my 4 nights. Hard to rate it, somewhere between 3 and 4.

The hotel itself was very good, and I'd give it 5 stars, but the hotelbar experience was bad. We waited ages to order while the staff seemed to be hanging out at the back and only checking in now and then. The beer we got was flat, and the replacement was flat too. The waitress said they were having CO2 problems and agreed it was flat, but we still had to pay 5.90€ per beer even though we couldn't drink it. After that, we decided to have dinner somewhere else.

After two stays, they remembered my room preference from my reservation. The staff are incredibly welcoming and make sure professionally that I have what I need while working away. Top marks.
