Gasthof & Fleischerei Endler

We tried the wild goulash with potato dumplings and red cabbage, which was rich and full of flavor. My Kasslerbraten with potatoes and sauerkraut was simple and really well done, the meat juicy and the kraut tangy. Portions are generous, and the hearty German food hit the spot after time out by the lakes. Gasthof & Fleischerei Rheinsberg is just steps from Rheinsberg Castle and the Stechlin running track, so it's handy for hikers, runners, and visitors. The formal restaurant seems to be closed and it's now an Imbiss, but the food quality is still high. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful, too.

I felt very comfortable here and would happily come back. The staff were especially nice, friendly, and helpful, and the butcher shop connected to the guesthouse has a hot-food counter where you can eat or take something back to your room. My room looked straight out at Rheinsberg Castle, and the town center is an easy walk away. The rooms are fine and have what you need for a longer stay. Just be aware that the guesthouse stairs and nearby cobblestones could be difficult for anyone with major mobility problems.

I ended up with a double room even though I'd booked a single for one night, so there was lots of space. It had everything I needed for the price, including hot water and heating. I only learned the next day that I was the only guest there. And breakfast, all to myself, was amazing. Nothing was missing.
