Breakfast was the rough part of our weekend stay. We’d found a room for two for 99 euros when most hotels were booked, and the room was clean, though on arrival the building looked more like a motel than the hotel in the online photos. The old, worn bed had scratches on the headboard, and I personally really dislike the mat covering the whole floor. Otherwise, the room was okay. Breakfast cost 17 euros per person, which didn’t seem worthwhile for my daughter under 12 and me, since neither of us eats much. We asked about buying a croissant and were told it was 1.50 euros. I also took bread with butter and cheese, marked at 1 euro. Apparently drinks weren’t allowed, though, and after we made the mistake of taking tea and milk, a worker made a huge scene and demanded the full 17 euros for a croissant, bread, tea, and milk. What three-star hotel won’t offer guests a cup of coffee or tea? The younger receptionist with a baby was nicer after breakfast. In the end we paid 10 euros, not 17, and were even allowed to take a piece of bread for the road.

We were on our way to Oslo and were so pleased to find car charging at the hotel. There are three stations in the hotel car park, owned and run by the hotel: two Level 2 chargers for Tesla only, and one Level 2 charger with a Type 2 connector for other cars. It costs a flat EUR 0.50 per kWh, with no waiting charge. Just plug in the supplied connector and tell reception, then they enable the power. I got 13 kWh without any trouble. The hotel itself is lovely and friendly, just off the motorway but still peaceful. The food was good, the beer selection was world-class, and all the staff were lovely. Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the walk-in shower a good size with excellent water pressure. I’d highly recommend staying here and look forward to coming back on my next trip.

The rest of our stay was very pleasant, but getting a room with our two dogs was a struggle. We booked because pets were welcome and even called to confirm after noting the two small dogs on the online booking. Nobody seemed interested in speaking with me, passing me from one person to another. When we arrived, we were told quite rudely there was no room for us because we had two dogs. After some discussion and an extra fee of €20 for one night, they found us a room. Akzent hotels, please update your website so it clearly explains which extras you charge for and how much.
