Trihotel Am Schweizer Wald

After using the sauna, I went down to the basement. It was decent. Weeks later, I got a hefty €50 bill for the hotel car park. I must have missed the sign at night, but this isn't how you treat customers. I won't return.

The room was small and had little storage, but it was nicely decorated, with even a large mirror on the ceiling. The bathroom was modern and clean, with a rain shower. Breakfast had a good variety, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small and cozy, and the sauna area was nice.

Breakfast was another letdown: we queued for 15 minutes and then found nothing to eat, so we had to go out to a bar. The room was just as bad. I paid extra online for a larger "surprise room," but it turned out to have a small bathroom with a blocked drain that needed chemical cleaner. Nobody apologized or seemed concerned. We paid a lot for a lousy night. This place doesn't deserve even one star.

The food was very salty and not particularly good, and the rooms smelled of smoke. There was even cigarette scorch on the window frame, with mold on the carpet, shower, and toilet. The shower had no wall between it and the bed, so there was no privacy. Everything inside looked cheap and ugly, like a $9-a-night American motel. Maybe it suits hipsters or people bringing an escort, but I wouldn't pay over 20 euros a night. I believe this breaches consumer protection rules for a non-smoking room, the Beherbergungsstättenverordnung because of the unhygienic conditions, the Infektionsschutzgesetz – IfSG due to mold on the toilet, and DIN 10506 given the dusty carpet and dirty window covering. I won't return or recommend it.
