Hotel Carrera

For over a year, we’ve tried repeatedly to get a forgotten personal item back. We even offered to cover the shipping costs, but the hotel management has refused to return it and blocks our attempts to reach them. Calls have ended with appalling verbal abuse and them hanging up. Trust and service matter during and after booking, so I can only advise people to avoid this hotel. No one wants to forget something personal and never see it again.

The pizza was good, but I left very disappointed. The breakfast choices were very limited, and there was no soap in the room even after I asked several times. The carpets in the rooms and stairwell were absolutely filthy, and I’ve never slept so badly in a bed. Three stars are definitely not justified.

We went as a couple to Paparazzi Italian restaurant, which belongs to the Hotel Carrera, and got a table without a reservation. Ordering drinks and getting the menu was quick and easy. We chose the meat set menu, an appetizer and steak with chanterelle mushrooms. The ingredients were fresh, the vegetables perfectly cooked, and my meal included fresh pasta. But the food was bland, and some dishes were cold or only lukewarm. There were long gaps between courses, sometimes up to 30 minutes, and dessert only came after we asked. The staff came across as very arrogant, and I missed the warm Italian hospitality. It wasn’t a particularly memorable evening, and we won’t return.

I’d rather pay more and stay somewhere else. Everything is old and broken, and cleanliness and hygiene seem to be an afterthought. The hallway stinks, and they won’t give you the Wi-Fi password. I can’t say anything about breakfast because there was simply nobody there at 8 in the morning. Hope you have strong nerves!
