Gästehaus Obermeier

A great place for families, with self-catering apartments in a lovely, peaceful setting. The big garden has sun loungers, a slide, swing, barbecue, and ping-pong table, and there's a shared room with a small kitchen that worked well for our group. Everything was clean and the owners were very friendly. We’ll be back! :-)

We spent our days hiking from this lovely, well-furnished apartment, then unwound in the indoor pool. The garden was wonderful and large, and the owners were so friendly, with lots of excursion suggestions.

The worst part for me was the food. Anyone hoping for something good would be better off going to the nearby gas station shop. Breakfast was sad-looking sausage slices and soggy rolls, apparently from around World War II. Dinner was a shapeless mush with a sauce that might have come from a waste oil boiler. The bathroom smelled like a badger had spent the winter in it. The shower was so covered in limescale it felt like a stalactite cave, and there was hair in the bedsheets. The trash can looked as if it hadn't been emptied since the last Ice Age. Hygiene seems to be a foreign concept here. Staff friendliness was just as bad. They treated you like you'd interrupted the local maypole festival. Smiles were about as rare as hot water, and asking a question or making a request got you an eye roll worthy of the Olympics. They also showed little understanding of nature and animals. With all due respect, staying at Obermeier Guesthouse was an imposition. This "guesthouse" didn't feel hospitable, and I wouldn't choose to return. Anyone who doesn't hate themselves should steer clear, unless they want a reminder of how good things are at home.
