The restaurant was a highlight for us, with delicious food made fresh, and the bowling alley is worth mentioning too. The hotel is peaceful, tucked into the Thuringian Forest, and works well as a base for hikes and trips around the area, including Saalfeld, Rudolstadt, and the Hohenwarte reservoir. The staff are really friendly and helpful, even when it gets busy.

We only came for a meal, not an overnight stay. The lamb tasted nice, though it was a bit tough, and the staff were friendly even though they didn't speak English. We got by with Google Translate and pointing at the menu. It's up in the hills in a remote spot, which gives the place some rustic charm, and lunch there made for a nice break.

There was loads of room for us and our two little kids, and the staff were so patient and friendly. The food was delicious, and the toilets were incredibly clean, always a good sign. We had a great time at the restaurant.
