Mercure Hotel Saarbrücken City

The room felt cozy and clean, and the bed made it easy to unwind after a long day. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel had a pleasant feel to it. I did find the room price a little higher than what was shown online, and there was no view. It would also be handy if rooms included a hygiene kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste, ear cleaners, and a hair cover. Still, I had a good stay and would recommend the hotel.

Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, especially Caroline. I liked having a river view from my room, but the Wi-Fi kept cutting out across all three of my devices, my iPad, Android phone, and Mac. Since I was there for work, that was frustrating.

The hotel's location was really convenient, especially for the Christmas market, and I loved seeing the weight information in the lift. The rooms were clean and a decent size, and the hotel was easy to find. Parking was a little awkward with a larger or taller car, which wouldn't fit in the garage. After a short wait, I did manage to get a charging spot in front of the hotel. The welcome fell short of what I'd expect from a four star hotel. I waited a long time to check in while the lobby was empty, and the phone kept ringing. The employee didn't say much. When I asked about the Christmas market, he said the main market had already finished and only a few stalls next door would be open because it was Sunday. That was misleading and completely wrong. He could have just said he wasn't sure. That's why I gave it three stars.

The staff were very friendly and seemed helpful with other guests' requests. The room was a good size, though I missed having a kettle to make coffee. I'd recommend the place.
