Hofgut Wißberg - Das Weinberghotel

Set among the vineyards, this is a lovely hotel with excellent service. Mrs. Krauss at reception is both professional and friendly, and she seems to genuinely enjoy what she does.

The breakfast on our second morning really changed how I felt about the hotel. At 9am, with breakfast meant to run until 10, the buffet was mostly leftovers: half-used plates, one slice of smoked salmon, a couple of sausage and salami slices, overbaked croissants and rolls, and a glass of juice with no name. Lots of other items were gone too. When I asked, the waitress said there was no more salmon and that she was following the boss's instructions. There were only six guests, but the service should be consistent each day, or they should change the setup if they want to avoid wasting food. We had originally planned to stay just one night. After that first breakfast, we decided to add another night so we could enjoy the terrace after golf and the lovely scenery. The room was €180, and for that standard, I was very disappointed. A compensation from the front desk didn't undo the damage to my impression of the hotel.

Right among the grape ranks there's a marvelous hotel, with a lovely terrace and friendly staff. It's next to a nice golf complex, so it works well for a weekend or a few days. Even for just one night, it's a good choice.

We were there for a family wedding, and the rural setting among vineyards was beautiful. The rooms had plenty of space and the food was very good. The staff really made the stay, especially Christine, who sorted out problems with our hired cars and shared great tips on places to visit. Sven and Anina were wonderful too.
