The location was great, and the furniture was lovely. I was only there briefly, but the kitchen gear was in really poor shape. The kettle was filthy, and the coffee machine had clearly had a long life. There was also mold on the window putty, which is completely unacceptable.

Apartment 9 was roomy, and the landlord was super nice. We even found a bottle of sparkling wine on the table as a welcome gift. We were there with our dog over New Year’s Eve, and chose the place because we’d read that fireworks weren’t allowed near the national park. Sadly, our dog and we found out otherwise, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anxious dogs at that time of year. There was mold in every window too, which was supposedly caused by tenants and poor ventilation. We mentioned it to the landlord. The location is otherwise great for hiking, and the Brocken Railway station is an easy walk away. You can shop nearby as well. The local bakery doesn’t open until midday, but fortunately it sells ready-baked rolls. The kitchen was adequate, though it had no freezer or dishwasher. We managed without them.

The houses were immaculate and well placed for the main sights, with other interesting spots not too far off either. We had parking behind the house, and the key handover was all well organized. Our spacious apartment was clean, simply furnished, and perfectly fine for us. The listing photo matched our place exactly, and there was a lovely view towards the Wurmberg from the back.

The driveway to the parking area was always kept open in winter, which we really appreciated. Communication with the landlord was excellent, and the apartment was great value. It had a big living room and bedroom, with an excellent kitchen that had everything we needed. We’ll be back!
