Gemünder Ferienpark Salzberg

There are two supermarkets nearby and lots of hiking trails. We had a lovely stay in a cozy, well equipped apartment with good heating and a very comfortable bedroom bed. The only downside was the sofa bed, which had seen better days and squeaked terribly. Everything else was perfect.

The apartment sits quietly at the top of a steep hill, but it’s easy to reach by car. It’s a handy base for bike tours around the Eifel, and Kall station is a short drive away for trips to other cities, like Cologne. The place was spacious and clean, had all the necessary utilities, and even a garage for my bike.

Roomy, clean apartments make this a great place for a vacation. There’s plenty here, including a laundry room and movies to watch, and both the sauna and fitness room are well equipped.

Check-in was simple, and we were greeted warmly. Our apartment was clean, well stocked, and had a balcony with a great view. We made good use of the complimentary sauna, DVD library, and games room. The Eifel region is lovely. We explored Vogelsang Country park, walked the Eifelweg trail, and visited the outdoor pool in the magical setting at Heimbach. There are plenty of historic towns within an easy drive, including fabulous Monschau and Bad Munstereifel. Cologne also made a good day trip, about 50 minutes away. We parked outside the center, took the train and tram in, and visited the Cathedral and Ludwig Museum. For food, we had takeaway pizza and ate at the Istanbul Doner in Germund. The portions were generous and the food was good, though they preferred cash to cards. There’s a cash point nearby. Lou Cafe and Bar in Germund is also good for coffee and snacks.
