We loved the view over Basel and the small villages nearby. We could even spot skydivers in the clouds. The room was spacious and nicely modern, possibly because the hotel seems to have only just reopened after renovations. The spa lady was very welcoming and explained the menu clearly. Breakfast was decent, though it was the same every day. There are several things that could be better. There’s no in-room safe, mini-fridge, ironing board, or rain shower, and nowhere downstairs to buy water or snacks. The service staff spoke only basic German and almost no English, which made ordering at the restaurant difficult for both German and English speakers. One young waiter was lovely and attentive, and seemed to have a lot of potential, but service felt off on his day off. Staff need more basic service training, like offering a wine tasting after opening a bottle or bringing water before drinks arrive.

The staff were fantastic and the service was excellent. The hotel sits high up in the mountains, with incredible scenery and nature all around. Highly recommended!

The terrace and restaurant were highlights for us, with a great atmosphere and fantastic food. The spa and wellness facilities were also top-tier and so relaxing. It’s a great spot for a quick getaway, just 50 minutes from Basel, which makes it convenient from Switzerland. Highly recommended!

The staff really stood out: they were professional, friendly, and attentive. I was here for two days during a client event, and the beautifully renovated place had a great atmosphere. The restaurant was very good, and the meeting rooms worked excellently for business gatherings. I’d definitely recommend it.

Hotel Manager Ingo Schmidt and the whole team gave us such a warm welcome, and I want to thank them for it. We spent a few days at Hotel Hochblauen while visiting Colmar, and the hospitality made the stay genuinely enjoyable. The spa therapist was especially professional, and we left very impressed.
