Vier Jahreszeiten am Schluchsee

Dinner was a pleasure each evening, especially thanks to Regina and Fernando from the dining team. We also tried the new Italian restaurant, where Ali was a friendly waiter. The manager was professional and welcoming, and made sure everything was taken care of with a smile. We had a fantastic stay with four teenage boys. The new gym is spotless, sleek, and state of the art, and the two paddleball courts got plenty of use from our active group. We also enjoyed the inviting heated indoor pool, the relaxing outdoor pool, and the quiet spa area. It was a memorable mix of relaxation for the adults and fun for the teens.

I'd stay here again. The location is quite good, with a few places within walking distance, and the rooms are high quality. Breakfast felt overpriced for what you get. My room also got hot at night. I don't think the AC worked, or maybe it had an annoying energy-saving setting.

The staff were very unfriendly. For a hotel that's meant to be family-friendly, there's just one toilet with a changing station and one very sad room for kids to play in, with nothing else. The restaurants are expensive, the food is bad, and there's nothing for babies.

The food is great, and the hotel is generally a nice place to stay, though it looks dated. It's spread over rolling ridges with a view of the lake, and you can walk to a few places. The main downside for non-smokers is that guests are allowed to smoke on their balconies, as the ashtrays there make clear. You can't stop another guest smoking, even when you're just trying to enjoy the fresh forest air. To keep the smoke out of your room, you'd have to shut all the windows. The hotel should consider becoming smoke-free.
