Gottschlich Apartment Schmallenberg

Mr. Gottschlich, the landlord, is such a nice man. The apartment is simply furnished, but that suited us since we spent the evenings there and wanted to get out and explore the surrounding nature during the day. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean and had everything we needed. My wife, our dog, and I really enjoyed the stay. We’d love to return, thanks so much!

The worn, dirty mattress in the downstairs bedroom was a letdown, and cigarette smoke came in through the windows several times, which was annoying for non-smokers. For a holiday apartment, we expected more privacy too. The landlord lives in the same building, and although the apartment is separated from the rest of the house, people passed through the hallway often. A mobile care service uses the apartment’s entrance at least daily, and the landlord has to cross the hallway to reach the basement. As a result, it felt like we were limited to a room of about 15 square meters. The apartment is on a quiet hillside street and spread over two floors. Downstairs there’s a simply furnished bedroom with a double bed and small TV, plus a modern shower bathroom off the hall. Upstairs are another bedroom and a kitchen with dining space. The landlord kindly let us park in the garage. It looked clean at first glance, and the price was reasonable, but the stay didn’t match what we’d expected.

The hallway smells strongly of cigarette smoke. The house where the owners live has three rooms, and apart from the modern bathroom, they’re old-fashioned.

There’s no separate entrance or real privacy here, and the landlord lives in the house. It isn’t a self-contained apartment, but several rooms spread through the home, with the bathroom reached via the hallway.
