Our double room was in very poor condition, with cobwebs in the corners and a horrible bathroom. It’s also on a noisy street.

The hosts are what make this cozy, tastefully furnished house feel like home. On our second hiking weekend in Schmallenberg at the Schieferhof, Silke was on her own, yet she handled everything beautifully, met all our requests, and treated us to first-class cooking. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and inviting. After a long day on the trails, the massage chair in the guest living room, which also serves as a reading and playroom, is especially worth trying. We’d love to return, and definitely recommend booking!

We’d happily come back. The owner looked after us so well at this friendly little hotel in the heart of the Sauerland region. Our room was practical, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was generous and delicious. Excellent value for money.
