The location is idyllic, the rooms are spacious, and the facilities are good. The staff were friendly too. Book directly if you want the half pension option. I'd stay again if we visit Winterberg!

We'd originally planned to eat at their neighbors, but they were closed, so we came here instead and didn't regret it. The staff were quick and very friendly. The schnitzel was bigger than average and tasted good, and the dessert was delicious too. And that view..... We had two schnitzels, four beers, and two desserts for €44,00, so it was very affordable!

Gasthof Braun "Am Hohen Knochen" is a good-value place to stay in the Sauerland in Germany. It has a cozy feel and familiar staff.

The food is outstanding, and I especially recommend the rump steak. The inn is in a fantastic, idyllic spot not far from the ski resorts. Rooms are modern, with a great balcony, and stay nice and warm. The bathroom has also been newly renovated. A truly wonderful place, highly recommended. Five stars!!!

We stayed from September 18th to 21st, 2025. The hotel is rustic, just as the pictures show, but we found it really cozy. Breakfast, the cakes, and dinner were all delicious, and we thought the service was very good. The mattresses weren't quite right for us because they could have been firmer, though everyone has different preferences. The location is ideal for hiking too. This certainly won't be our last stay.
