The restaurant is the standout for me: it serves local ingredients prepared on the premises, with traditional German food given a gourmet touch. Housekeeping is excellent, too, and the minimalist rooms are certainly easy to clean. But the rooms are small and quite bare, with hard floors, sharp-cornered furniture, and little decoration. Minimal styling can feel luxurious, but here it came across as cold and functional. Breakfast is in a separate room rather than the restaurant. It’s the usual German spread of fresh rolls with cold meats, cheese, or jam, and there’s no cooked option. As an Englishman, I found that disappointing. The ham and salami were nothing special, and breakfast seemed to get much less attention from the kitchen than dinner, which is a noticeable contrast with the quality of the restaurant food. This feels more like a restaurant with a few bedrooms than a hotel.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and my room felt spacious compared with places I’ve stayed in Zurich and London. I paid about $70 or $80 for one night and really enjoyed the hotel. I didn’t try the restaurant food, but a Coke was around $5, while I’d just paid $3 for a triple ice cream cone down the road, so I imagine the meals are pricey too. For food, I’d recommend the truck by the park a couple of blocks away. It was delicious and very affordable.
The room and the weather were comfortable, and I liked the cozy lighting for sleeping. The facilities were comfortable as well, and the continental breakfast was delicious. You need a pass key to get into the hotel premises.
At the Adler hotel, I had a delicious meal and a clean, spacious bathroom. The room was a good size and clean, too, with a comfortable double bed. I’d recommend it.
Parking here is a disaster. If you return around 7 or 8 p.m., there may be nowhere to park because the hotel lets restaurant guests use the spaces and seems to forget about people staying in the rooms.
