The service was friendly and impeccable, but the room was freezing when we arrived. At breakfast, the yogurt had passed its best-before date in September, and on the second morning some cheese slices had dried, shriveled edges. The entrance had a German-Russian flag and a banner calling for peace between Israel and Palestine. There was also a long sign about the innkeepers' financial struggles and need to take full-time jobs, which they attributed to Germany's difficult political and economic situation. Welcome to Thuringia, and the world is blue.

We picked up our Christmas Day meal today, and all three dishes were delicious with generous portions. A big thank you to the owners and staff for being so friendly, and for the wonderful food!
