Raststättenhotel Holledau

Our room was on the back, with what looked like a forest view, and we didn’t hear traffic from the highway. I can’t say whether it’s noisy on the other side. The rooms are a decent size and look nice, and the highway location is the hotel’s main draw. The beds were okay, but the coversheet was too small and came loose overnight. The pillows were awful, though that seems common in hotels these days. There were a couple of other annoyances: the air-conditioning kept switching itself on and off, and the bathroom fan was very loud and came on with the light.

I stay here each year when driving to or from Croatia, and it’s a good fit for a stop near the Autobahn. It has the basics I need: underground parking, Wi-Fi, TV and food. The place is clean, good value and, in my experience, underrated. Comparing prices, booking on the hotel’s own website is cheaper than booking through the internet.

This is an old-style hotel with really friendly staff. We’d made a mistake and booked here thinking it was near Geisenhausen by Landshut, which is 55 minutes away, though there’s also a Geisenhausen near this location. The lady kindly let us cancel the second night. Dogs are allowed for an extra 8 euros and get their own little spot.

The place looks lovely, but the AC wasn’t working. We’d booked specifically because of it, so we had to leave. The receptionist refunded us right away and helped us look for somewhere else, which was very kind. Still, don’t advertise AC if it doesn’t work, especially when it’s hot.
