It's wonderful that you're in Hechendorf! We love coming here for the excellent pizza. The pasta and appetizers are delicious too, and the service is great, with staff who are quick and attentive.

My experience at Trattoria Rusticone Alter Wirt was very disappointing, both for the service and the food. After work, still in my work clothes, I came in to order takeaway and said right away that I wanted to place an order. The waiter showed me the menu and focused on the prices instead of taking my order. It felt awkward. I ordered a carbonara, paid in advance, and waited almost 50 minutes. When my wife came to collect it, they asked her to pay again. Luckily, we had the receipt. The carbonara was the worst I've ever had: dry spaghetti with fried meat, hardly any sauce, no proper cheese, and none of the classic ingredients. It was nothing like real carbonara. The photo shows dry pasta, bits of fried meat, and practically no sauce. I also got the impression that customers are treated differently based on how they look. Not recommended.

We'd still be happy to return a fourth time. On our third visit, the service was warm as before, and the fish platter from the daily specials was perfectly fine. The weekly Pasta Neapolitana, though, was disappointing: the menu promised fresh truffles and a white wine tomato sauce, but neither was in the dish. The substitute paste for the truffles smelled and tasted very neutral, and the sauce was represented by just a few bits of tomato, with no sign of white wine. What a shame. Our second visit had gone really well, with pleasant service and very good pizza, homemade filled pasta, and a beef fillet. We wanted to come back a third time soon. This is a new Italian restaurant from a regional chain, in the former Alte Wirt inn in Hechendorf. Our first visit was promising too: good pizza and pasta, with friendly, quick service, and we recommended giving it another try.

The pizza and beef fillet I've tried so far were both fantastic. Hechendorf finally has a great restaurant again, with delicious food and superb service. Thanks, I'll definitely be back.
