Hotel Restaurant Wilhelmsbad

I was ready to give this hotel a better review. The owners have had it for five years, and the woman is pleasant, but the man seems not to care. The only place where internet actually works is reception. The Wi-Fi signal reaches the rooms, but there's no internet access there, password or otherwise. In reception, your login works. When I said the internet wasn't working, he brushed it off as “upstairs is slow.” It isn't. He was just watching things on his phone while guests had problems. Please get the service working for guests instead of watching your own internet. Have you given up?

We only stopped for one night on the way to the Black Forest, expecting a comfortable place to sleep. I had the best sleep I've ever had. The hotel was cozy, the rooms had everything we needed, and they felt just right, neither too loud nor too basic. The restaurant was elegant, and the staff were warm without being overly fancy. I hadn't known Seesen before, but I left wishing I could come back.

We really like eating here because the food is delicious and everyone is usually so friendly, which made today's Boxing Day visit all the more disappointing. The food deserves three stars, as always, but the service was a disaster. We had a noon booking and our drinks order was taken promptly. After an hour and several reminders, we could finally order food. Dessert, the last course, arrived around 3 pm, so we didn't leave until three and a half hours after arriving. As we went out, we saw guests in another dining room still waiting for their main courses. This kind of service is unacceptable. What a shame.

Several neighboring tables had guests leave early, and the people who stayed were thoroughly disappointed. We went as a family of 15 for Christmas dinner on December 25, 2025, and it was the worst Christmas we've ever had together. Though we reached our table at noon, our drinks took almost an hour, and the food didn't arrive until around 2:30 p.m. The goose was so dry you could build a house with it. The salmon, lamb and venison were also completely inedible and dry as bricks. I've never had such a bad experience. I strongly advise people against visiting, and maybe the owners should consider a career change. Never again. Thanks for the worst Christmas ever.
