Hotel Paulushof

The heated pool is a real plus, and a small gym would make the place even better. It’s been fully renovated and is ideally placed in the national park, so definitely worth a visit.

We stayed three nights. The staff were excellent and, when we arrived, explained the pool and sauna arrangements clearly and seemed very mindful of COVID. Breakfast had a good mix of hot and cold options, and they offered us more coffee. Parking was good, and the hotel is in a lovely spot right by the sea. The rooms are showing their age and could do with an upgrade.

The salads arrived in such an original presentation that we ended up talking about them for quite a while. We had a really good lunch on the terrace, with a beautiful view and nothing to complain about food-wise. The menu is a little expensive, though that’s to be expected in a tourist spot. Figure on €20 to €25 per person, including a drink.

There’s plenty of room in the bedrooms, including comfortable chairs if you just want to sit and read. Paulushof makes a relaxing place to unwind in the middle of all that nature, and it’s animal friendly, with a great heated pool. The restaurant attached to the hotel serves amazing food. I really liked the schnitzel and deer steak. They’ve made some improvements since I last visited. I don’t remember Wi-Fi being there before, and now there is, along with better TVs and some updated decor. The style might still feel a bit sparse to some people, but to me that’s part of its charm.
