Landgasthaus Grüner Baum

We had three lovely days here in autumn. The staff were very kind, and the hotel was comfortable. From the food to the rooms, nearly everything was perfect.

We were staying nearby in Simonswald and tried Grünberg Baum for dinner on our first night. We liked it so much that we returned for a second meal before the trip ended. The dining room and menu are fairly traditional, but the flavors and cooking were exceptional. We sampled almost everything, and it was all delicious. Main courses cost around 20-30 €, so it’s a little pricey, but worth it. Highly recommended.

This was the best place we stayed during our travels through Germany, France, and Switzerland. Everyone working there was wonderful and spoke German and English fluently. The rooms were very neat, clean, and updated, and the restaurant was a surprisingly impressive part of the stay. When I come back to this area, I’ll stay here again.

Ludwig, the owner and host, is easygoing, and staying here was a pleasure. We’d planned on just one night, but liked the place so much that we extended our stay. We’ll certainly visit again soon. It’s a lovely guesthouse that mixes modern touches with Black Forest tradition. The rooms were clean, modern, and a good size, and the balcony was a plus. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, and breakfast had both a buffet and personal choices.
