I was in Singen for a meeting and asked at reception that morning if I could check out late, since my wife would be at the hotel while I was away. The receptionist told us bluntly, without checking, that the hotel was full and we had to leave by noon. She didn’t check that I’m a gold card member either, which I thought might have allowed some flexibility. I understand if the hotel really was fully booked, but the answer could have been delivered more warmly or with a little explanation. That would have made a difference.

I stayed for eight days. The room service was good, and the hotel was clean, modern, and conveniently close to Singen Railway station. Friendly, helpful staff made both check-in and checkout smooth. Breakfast was fresh and good quality, though I would have liked a bit more variety.

The breakfast was fresh and decent, especially the tasty croissants and breads, and coffee and juices were nice and available throughout breakfast. The location is amazing, and the hotel is super decent for the price. A few things could be better: the downstairs bar could use some work, and they could add a corner for children’s activities. I’m not sure the AC was working during our stay, since the simple thermostat had no labels and gave no way to tell if it was on. Still, we had a great stay and recommend it for the value. Cheers, Anant

The garage is spacious and suitable even for larger cars, and the staff were correct and friendly. The hotel is quite new, not far from Singen city center, and my room was beautiful, modern, spacious, and clean. The bed was too soft for me, though I’ve seen others complain that theirs was too hard, so tastes clearly differ. There’s no minibar, which reception kindly explained right when we arrived. Instead, guests can have unlimited free coffee at the bar, and it was really good. The bar staff were friendly, and the free billiards was great. Breakfast was fine and made with fresh ingredients, but I couldn’t find salt shakers on the tables for my eggs. I also didn’t see dining room staff around regularly, only someone coming by now and then to bring food. Real eggs instead of powdered ones would make breakfast much better. I’d be happy to visit again.

The location, parking, and facilities sound good, but several parts of my stay were disappointing. On arrival day, I called reception more than ten times between 10 am and 2 pm. At first the line couldn’t be reached, then it went to an automated message. I kept choosing the reception option, but nobody answered. I finally got through around 3 pm, and the woman I spoke to wasn’t very helpful. I had booked two rooms and expected them to be at least on the same floor. I’d told the woman on the phone I would arrive late, and checked in around 9:15 pm. We were given one room on the first floor and another at the opposite end on the fourth. The man at reception said adjoining rooms on one floor had already gone to other guests because I arrived late. He also said a room next to ours on the first floor was empty but hadn’t been cleaned after checkout, so it couldn’t be used. We had no choice but to split the family between two very distant rooms. I see this as a management and planning failure. With a two-room booking, why not keep rooms on the same floor available instead of assigning them to individual bookings? I’d also checked in online through the app, but the hotel still didn’t arrange nearby rooms. Even the same floor would have been fine, but this was really inconvenient. The room has almost no amenities: no closed wardrobe or closet, no phone to reach reception or call between rooms, no fridge, and not even a bottle of water, which I consider standard in a hotel. I’m not sure why these things are missing at Ibis Styles. The AC wasn’t working when we checked in, and with the summer heat that was hard to accept. The wall panel was completely black, so there was no way to see which settings to use. I had to go downstairs to reception because there was no other way to contact them from the room. Someone tried to get it working, but it never got cold. Since it was the weekend, I was told nobody could come and check it. We spent two holiday days in summer without AC. Wonderful, isn’t it? The room is cleaned only if you hang the card asking the maintenance team to do it. I’d never come across this procedure in all my travels and hotel stays, not even in small home stays, and I wonder why Ibis Styles uses it. The poor upkeep in the rooms is clear. I’ve stayed at other Ibis Styles hotels and had great experiences, but this one was an exception. It’s called a new opening, yet nothing in the room seemed new. There were spider webs and insects, which made the lack of maintenance obvious. This stay disappointed me, and I’ll be more careful booking with Ibis Styles in the future.
