The price was very reasonable, breakfast included, but paying was a problem: they only take EC-karte, so my Visa, Mastercard, or Maestro cards wouldn’t work. I had to pay cash, which luckily I had. Check-in around 17:00 meant finding the door locked with no staff there, and checkout was much the same. They also run the restaurant downstairs, so don’t expect anyone to be around for the hotel rooms. The location is great, but the organization isn’t. The rooms feel dated, and the bed had a mediocre mattress.

The gluten-free dishes here have the most flavor in the area. You can ask for pasta and pizza to be gluten free, lactose free, and low histamine. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the food is delicious, and the waiters are friendly. We’d definitely come by again.

You’re seconds from the Rhine, and the price felt low for the quality and value. The front desk service was friendly; my room was very clean, with a modern bathroom stocked with what I needed. Wi-Fi was okay, though stronger in the center of the building. Breakfast costs extra. I already miss Speyer and will be back.

We were eight people, and half of us thought calling this a “dining experience” was a joke. The service ranged from contemptuous to nonexistent. My €15 “Specialty” Stein Pilz pizza was dreadful; the canned Stein Pilz were mushy and tasteless, and only the regurgitated Parma ham that came with them was worse. This was absolutely the worst time I’ve ever had eating out in Speyer. If it’s the only place to eat, go hungry. I’m writing this in English so EVERYONE can avoid the restaurant.

The room was nice and clean, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the location is great. I only stayed one night and didn’t spend much time in the room or have breakfast, but I’d recommend it.
