Herrenhaus Orangella

Stadt Wehlen makes a great base for bike rides, hikes, and trips by boat or train. We also loved the unique place, full of artistic details, and the hostess was warm and welcoming with fantastic tips. The breakfast alone made the trip worthwhile.

The garden is idyllic, with fragrant roses and a big lawn in front of the house that’s perfect for relaxing 🌹. The apartment is elegant and comfortable, with a kitchen, charming bathroom, comfortable bed, dining room overlooking the Elbe, and a vaulted room with a TV, sofa bed, and wingback chair. Breakfast included delicious homemade spreads and healthy herbs from the garden. The friendly hostess welcomed us warmly and took excellent care of her guests. There are lots of hiking trails through the shady forests of Saxon Switzerland, and Dresden is easy to reach by S-Bahn (suburban train) or car. A wonderful vacation 🌳.

Natural surroundings by the Elbe Cycle Path, quiet rooms, a charming landlady, and a generous breakfast buffet made for a lovely stay. The rooms are somewhat small, so if that’s not enough space for you, you’ll have to hope one of the lovely holiday apartments is available.

For hikers, this is adequate accommodation. The colorful rooms have no heating, though, and nights below 10°C can get pretty cold. The blankets seem made for small children, so warm sleepwear is a good idea. In the bathroom, the water can be too hot and then too cold while showering. You can also hear other guests talking through the wall, and there’s no Wi-Fi.
